. This beautiful analogy in one of my most favourite german songs is exactely the picture that helped me find my way to meditation. . There is this british guy, called Andy Puddicombe – in order to gain more headspace he quit university and spent over a decade in various buddhist monasteries. . Now he shares his achievements with our western world, in a way that is easily comprehensable for the vast majority of all us busy-bees + not-monks. . Therefor he co-founded a project called H E A D S P A C E, wrote several books about how to effortlessy integrate meditation into daily life and how only 10minutes a day can create a profund difference in one's life. . In his book „Headspace“ he tells a story of his time in a buddhist monastery: . As he was trying so hard to ease his mind, it only got worse - it kept flipp-flopping from one thought to another and engaging with them. . So he consulted his teacher. After listening to Andy's worries in concern, he calmly smiled, saying : . „Imagine you hop on a plain.. On a very rainy, dizzy day. How does the sky look before you get into the plain?“ „Grey and cloudy.“ , Andy answered. „And how does it look like after the departure..Clear blue, right?“, the teacher went on, seeing that Andy already got the point - „Consider your t r u e mind as this clear blue sky. And your thoughts as clouds - in various forms. It can be a very rainy day with loads of grey and heavy clouds that take away all the brightness. Or it remains sunny and only sometimes some happy little clouds are passing by, not doing the blue sky any harm. But the point is – no matter how many clouds there are or how they are shaped or colored – the sky underneath them stays C L E A R. At any time. And so does your mind. . The goal of meditation is not to forcefully get rid of those clowds – but to live at E A S E with them passing by, knowing that the sky remains clear. Always.' . •📷 @jennandthecamera🙏🏼💕
